Introduced in the 9.0 update, Tournaments are a weekly PVP event in Puzzle Breakers that pits players of all levels against one another - on an EVEN the playing field (or close to it), to truly find out who the best of the best is! And of course, ample opportunities to win VALUABLE rewards to the top-placing winners!

Tournament Overview[]

Tournaments are open to players who have reached the Gold League in Raids.

Held once a week, all Tournament participants are randomly sorted into groups of 100 players, regardless of their progression level. Specific Tournament rules limit the maximum strength of heroes to a fair level, so that every player's heroes are as closely matched with each other, in terms of base stats and team power.

Hero Strength Limitations[]

For Tournaments, any of the eligible heroes that a player has will be limited to the strength of 5★ and level 100, and no higher than that. This also means that any players' heroes below 5★ or level 100 WILL NOT be boosted to 5★ for the Tournament.

For further clarification, here are some examples of hero strength limitations:

  • If you choose a 6★ Hero of level 1, they will become a 5★ Hero of level 1 specifically for the tournament.
  • If you choose a 8★ Hero of level 160, they will become a 5★ Hero of level 100 specifically for the tournament (max level for any 5★ Hero).
  • If you choose a 5★ Hero of level 80, their stats will remain the same for the tournament.

In general, every Tournament will nullify stat boosts and special effects for the heroes of all players, from the following applications:

Unique Tournament Rules[]

Additionally, each Tournament will rotate through combinations of unique, challenging rules. The following is a collection of the rules that have been implemented in Tournaments so far:

Phases[]

An entire Tournament event lasts for 6 days, and consists of the following phases:

Preparation Phase (setting a Defense)[]

A 24-hour phase which allows players to review the rules, strategize, and set their Defensive team of 5 heroes. Note: once you've chosen your Defense team, this team will serve as your Defense for the entire Tournament and you cannot switch them out. Just as it is in Raids, each Defense team challenges attacking players with full HP for every round of play.

Combat Phase[]

After the Preparation Phase, the Tournament begins a 5-day period of combat! Each day, a participant will receive energy for 5 total attacks. The Tournament automatically matches you against another player in your group at random, and you will NOT be able to select or re-roll for different opponents, like you do in Raids.

During the Combat Phase, the Defensive team that you put together is also subject to attack. This seemingly happens at random, and on some days you might receive 4 or 5 attacks...other days, you may not get attacked at all.

Tournament Scoring[]

For attacking, points are scored on the following:

Victory

  • +100 points for being victorious
  • +20 additional points for the remaining Health of your team
  • +10 points for each enemy Hero killed

Defeat

  • +20 points for being defeated

The maximum amount of points from a successful attack is 170, and the minimum number of points is 20.

For defense, points are scored based on the average of successful defenses your team achieves over the course of the ENTIRE Tournament. The awarded points are scaled each day based on the OVERALL total, including previous days in the Tournament:

Defensive win % 100% = A: +300 points 75% = B: +250 points 50% = C: +200 points 25% = D: +100 points <25% = E: +50 points

An important thing to understand here, is that attacks against your defending team will occur at random. So on the first day, you might be attacked only one time, and have a 100% success rate for the day, earning you 300 points. Then on Day 2, you might get attacked 3 times and lose every one of them, leaving you with a 25% success rate for the day, earning you only 100 points.

Another important thing to be aware of: not everyone in a given Tournament group will be attacked the same number of times as another player. So as much as Tournaments emphasize the skill of the player, there are nonetheless big influences of RNG that can determine the outcome.

Results Phase[]

At the conclusion of the 5-day Combat Phase, the final scores are tallied, and rewards are given to all participants based on their placement - the most valuable rewards of course going to the top place-finishers.

  • Other place finishers either win , , or other stuff. I'll update this when the next Tournament comes around in about 10 days.
